 H.Y.P.E YOUTH MINISTRY

Core Ministry Leader:
Tammy Penelton

Our Mission

Our H.Y.P.E. (Holy, Youth, Pray, Everyday) mission is to deliver services to children of God by embracing each child, nurturing, loving and teaching them that they too are lighthouse youth for all who seek the LORD and the growth of Centennial Christian Church.

Scripture:  Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:16)

Our Goals

Every child of God that steps through the door is invited to H.Y.P.E., welcomed and accepted as a child of God.

H.Y.P.E. goals are to:

v  Educate and aid in the spiritual growth of the youth of Centennial Christian Church.

v  Provide fun and exciting Christian education activities in a safe environment.

v  Create experiences and a healthy outlet, utilizing principles and skills to promote the youth core values.

v  Recruit youth from the neighboring and surrounding community to become active members of Centennial Christian Church.

Our Values
 1)
Spirituality:  We affirm that Jesus Christ is our Savior and that we strive to be his disciples by studying his life and ministry and patterning our lives after him.  (Luke 9:23, Luke 10:27)

2) Sacredness:  We believe in the sacredness of relationship.  Therefore we commit to build healthy relationships with youth in the Fountain Park community.  (Mark 10:14)

3) Solidarity:  We stand in solidarity with the poor and oppressed in our community.  We are called to organize youth for justice and social action when institutions resist God's reign.  (Deuteronomy 27:19)

4) Self-Esteem:  We believe that God has called us to love ourselves so that we may love our neighborhood.  We will be persistent educators of black and afro-centric culture and history.  (Psalm 139:14, Colossian 1:16)

 5) Safety:  We affirm that our church will be place of safety emotionally, physically, spiritually, and mentally.  Our environment will be non-judgmental and open to all who treat each other with respect.  (Matthew 7:1)
